Barcelona has always engaged with the world with an open and inclusive spirit and tolerance of social, ethnic, racial and cultural diversity. The Zurich Marató Barcelona fully adheres to these values and strives to organise an event in which people of all walks of life, young and old, feel at home.

These principles lie at the source of its commitment to gender equality and bringing the sport to everyone. It is only natural for an event with such an inclusive vision to make people with disabilities an integral part of our big celebration of running.

As well as having three categories for disabled athletes —wheelchairs, visually impaired and athletes with intellectual disabilities—, the Zurich Marató Barcelona pulls out all the stops to make sure that all the associated venues, such as the runner's show, are accessible.

People whose disabilities or illnesses have a serious impact on their mobility can also take part together with partners who push their wheelchairs, giving them too the opportunity to play a big role in this big celebration of sport along with their family and friends.
